Deputy Schroeder receives Douglas Welch Scholarship award

   Livingston County Sheriff John M. York presented Deputy Stephanie Schroeder with the Douglas J. Welch Scholarship award. Schroeder, a 2005 graduate of Caledonia-Mumford High School, will graduate from the Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Association Police Academy at Canandaigua in June 2009.

   Welch’s window, Nancy Rider of Livonia and his sister, Madeline Peri, accompanied Sheriff York in the presentation of the scholarship to Schroeder.

   Welch died on July 4, 1976 while serving as Livingston County Sheriff. The Wadsworth family of Geneseo, NY established the scholarship after Welch’s death.
