Caledonia-Mumford High School is pleased to announce the Class of 2008 Valedictorian, Jordan Vokes and Salutatorian, Christopher Roll.

Jordan has completed a rigorous academic high school plan while participating in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. In addition to earning an Advanced Regents diploma, Jordan also completed a number of advanced placement and GCC courses while a high school student at Cal-Mum.

His work ethic was not limited to the classroom. Jordan played four years of baseball and basketball, served as captain for both teams and earned several individual and team awards. He decided to give varsity soccer a try in his senior year and was the starting goalie posting nine shutouts and receiving honorable mention on the LCAA All-League team. He’s performed in the high school musical throughout high school; this year holding the lead role of Conrad Birdie in Bye, Bye Birdie. Jordan is a member of National Honor Society, recipient of the Robert C. Freeman Citizenship Award and vice-president of the senior class.

He plans to attend D’Youville College next year to study biology and is the son of Rick and Colleen Vokes of Caledonia.

Christopher completed the requirements for an Advanced Regents diploma while at the same time earning college credits by completing the Project Lead the Way pre-engineering courses offered at Cal-Mum High School. Christopher also commuted to Roberts Wesleyan College during his junior and senior years to complete several other college courses. Chris received the American Chemical Society Regent Chemistry Award.

He excelled outside of the classroom as well by competing for four years on the soccer team and five on the tennis team. He was captain of both the JV and varsity soccer teams and was a member of the first Cal-Mum soccer team to reach the sectional semi-finals in 2004. As a sophomore he won a tennis sectional title competing at 1st singles. Chris contributed not only to athletics but was a key member of several Cal-Mum Odyssey of the Mind teams, including the 2004 Div. II World Champion team.

Chris will attend the University of Rochester in the fall to study mechanical engineering. His parents are David and Peggy Roll of Caledonia.
