Livingston County United Way
celebrates 2008 campaign partners

   Livingston County United Way gathered at the Big Tree Inn on October 8, 2008 to celebrate the achievements of the 2008 campaign and to present the annual awards to their United Way partners. The group observed a moment of silence honoring the work of the late George Traber for United Way in Livingston County.

   The Livingston County Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Livingston County, Inc. team to provide a variety of services to clients.

   "The Livingston County Chamber and United Way are committed to improving the quality of life for people in Livingston County," remarked Cynthia Oswald, Livingston County Chamber president.

   2008 Campaign Chair Bonnie Swanson thanked everyone who attended the event for their volunteer participation in the campaign. She called those people, the lifeblood of the organization.

   David Woods, board of director’s chairperson, called the 2008 United Way campaign successful in light of the difficult economy, raising $283,000, just shy of their $285,000 goal.

   Swanson passed the chairman’s seat to James Whissler, who will head the 2009 campaign.

   "It will be difficult in 2009. We’ll need to motivate our people for next year that we are here to help those in need," Whissler commented.

   United Way of Livingston County presented over 50 awards to area businesses, agencies and schools recognizing their efforts to support the work of over 20 United Way providers.
