Sectional Class CCC & D Track Meet Results
Ashley White shines for the Raiders

   The Caledonia-Mumford girls and boys track teams and the Hamilton Field Sports Complex played host to the 2008 Section V Class CCC & D Boys and Girls Track Championship on Saturday. Even a late afternoon thunderstorm tracking through the area could not dampen the excitement of the championship event. Following a one-hour rain/lightning delay, the sun returned, and so did the racing.

   Ashley White was the top performer for the Cal-Mum Girls Track Team as she soared to a personal best 5’2" in the high jump to capture 1st place. Ashley followed that effort up with two 2nd place finishes, recording a 16’6" long jump and a 33’10" triple jump. The Girl’s 400 meter relay team composed of: Samantha Burnside, Fenice Fenderson, Leanne Rhoads and Jane Schweichler was nosed out of 1st place by Sodus but did turned in a very respectable time of 53.84 in the event.

   Cal-Mum Raider Boy’s Track Team was led by Nate Schiedel’s 3rd place finish in the pentathlon and Tom Gomez’s 3rd place finish in the discus.

   Will Robertson of Williamson and Dansville’s Steve Hine were the top individual performer in the Boys Class CCC Meet. Robertson sprinted past the competition in the 100 and 200 meters and he also added the triple jump and the 110-meter hurdles to his championships. Hine matched Robertson performance as he also won four events, coming out top in the 400, 800, 1600 and the 3200-meter runs.

   Justin Shardlow of Alfred-Almond was a force in the Boys Class D Meet as he won the 100, 200 meter dashes and the long jump.

   Kristen Gunther of Arkport was dominate in the Girls Class – D Meet as she was victorious in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, the long jump and the triple jump.

   Other multiple individual event winners on the day included:

• Girls Class CCC - Danielle Potter, Dansville in the long jump and the steeple chase.
• Girls Class CCC – Jamine Poles, LeRoy in the 200 and 400 meters.
• Boys Class CCC – Mike Humphrey, LeRoy in the 400 meter hurdles and the high jump.
• Girls Class D - Katie Wyant, Jasper-Troupsburg in the 400 and 800 meters.
• Girls Class D - Megan Voltva, Alfred-Almond in the 110 meter hurdles and the discus.
• Boys Class D – Brian Gowski, Arkport in the 3000 steeple chase and 3200 meter run.
