Town officials take the oath and get back to business Caledonia Town Justice Gilbert Smith administered the oath of office to incumbent board members eager to begin a new term and get back to the work of the town. Supervisor Daniel Pangrazio, Jr., Clerk Laurie Sattora, Justice Mark Riggi and Councilpersons Timothy Anderson and Pamela Rychlicki were returned to office at the annual reorganizational meeting of the Town of Caledonia, held January 2, 2008 at the town hall. The first meeting of the fiscal year is the time when the supervisor makes several appointments and assignments, recaps the business of the prior year and looks forward to the goals of the upcoming year. Pangrazio thanked all of the town employees for their accomplishments over the past year and said the highway department has done an excellent job on all of its projects under the leadership of Superintendent Mark Schroeder. Other accomplishments Pangrazio mentioned included improvements to the Caledonia Rural Cemetery, prudent spending in all departments that saved money, switching the employee health benefits to a plan that resulted in a cost savings to the town and making equipment purchases as outlined in the equipment replacement strategy. Looking ahead to the 2008, Pangrazio said the town would continue to make improvements to the Caledonia Rural Cemetery and make equipment purchases as outlined in the strategy. He said all departments will continue to look for ways to save money, including seeking intermunicipal agreements with neighboring towns for large equipment purchases. Pangrazio also says the town expects to entertain the issue of wind energy in 2008. A company specializing in the alternative power supply is conducting feasibility testing off of River Road. If the results are favorable and the company is interested in pursuing construction of wind energy towers, the Town of Caledonia would look at a revenue producing host agreement. Beginning a third term, the supervisor says he is very satisfied with the state of the town. "We have very dedicated board members who are experienced, dependable and independent thinkers. I appreciate and respect their willingness to be away from their families to put in extra effort for the town," Pangrazio commented. In routine annual business, the board approved the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. for the town board meetings to be held in the town hall, 3109 Main Street, Caledonia.
