Four Cal-Mum students place in GCC Tech Wars

   Four Cal-Mum High School students entered projects and placed in the 2008 Genesee Community College Tech Wars competition for the G.L.O.W. region. All four are students in Mr. James Wolbert's Principals of Engineering class and entered projects in the auto cad category of the competition.

  • First Place - CM Senior Nathan Schiedel for his design of a Lego piece.
  • Third Place - CM Junior Russell Schneider for his parametric drawing of a caliper.
  • Honorable Mention - Senior James Powers and Junior Jordan Wyble.

   This was the first year of the Tech Wars competition. The goal of this event is to allow students to take what they learn in the Technology classrooms and compete in a hands-on educational yet fun program. Several businesses from the G.L.O.W. region sponsored the event.

   Livingston County students placing in the Tech Wars competition include:

  • HS Auto Cad Arch 2nd place: Jon Pierce Dansville HS
  • MS Catapult 2nd place: Anthony Andrews and 3rd pl. Matt Ridley York CS
  • MS CO2 car 2nd place: Alexander Orban and 3rd pl. Jesse Gleason, York CS
  • HS CO2 car 1st place: Samantha Stein, York CS
  • MS CO2 car appearance 1st: Chelsey Dubiel, York CS
  • HS Manual Drafting – 1st: Violet Castor and 2nd: Mike Downey, Dansville CS

   In the overall high school point totals, Dansville CS placed second and York CS placed third. In the overall middle school point totals, York CS tied for first place.
