Friendly scarecrows mark start of fall

Autumn didn’t officially begin until September 22 but in Caledonia, it began a few days earlier with Country Junktion’s annual scarecrow event. Dozens of children and adults of all ages took part in creating a unique scarecrow of their own design. Rita Kanaley, co-owner of the Main Street shop, says she enjoys helping others create their own scarecrow and loves the smiles on the kids’ faces when they see it completed. There is nothing scary about these scarecrows, however, just pure fun!

JoAnn Kingsbury and her granddaughter, ten-year old Samantha Laursen, enjoyed a warm Saturday outdoors creating their very own scarecrow. He was headed home for the front yard.

Jeremy, Jennifer and two-year old Bella Mettler of Chili created a scarecrow.
