Cal-Mum PTA in jeopardy of folding Karen Polo, president of Caledonia-Mumford PTA, is sounding an urgent call for members willing to hold board positions and/or chair various committees throughout the year. Polo says if these positions are not filled in the very near future, the Cal-Mum PTA will disband. Membership is not the issue right now, getting people to serve in the positions of president, recording and corresponding secretaries, treasurer and to head up PTA events is the problem, Polo explained. The PTA recently issued an urgent call to the membership explaining that if these positions are not filled the PTA will be disbanded. The Caledonia-Mumford PTA, with current membership at 100, organized in the early 1990’s and has been actively sponsoring numerous events for students at all grade levels. Polo says while PTA sponsored events have increased over the years, membership involvement and willingness to serve in board positions has diminished. The result is a small number of PTA members serving as board members and chairing PTA events throughout the school year. CMPTA sponsored events include:
Polo calls this the last urgent call for members interested in taking over the positions of president, corresponding and recording secretaries, treasurer and committee chair people. If these positions are not immediately filled, Polo says steps will be taken to disband the Caledonia-Mumford PTA. If you are interested in serving in a board position or to chair a committee, please contact CMPTA President Karen Polo at 538-9547.
