DECEMBER
Acting U.S. Surgeon General Rear Admiral Steven K. Galson has launched an attack in this year’s War on Christmas. The Acting Surgeon General declared that Santa is too heavy to be a good role model, telling the Boston Herald, "It is really important that the people who kids look up to as role models are in good shape, eating well and getting exercise … Santa is no different." Critics claim Santa is hundreds of
years older than the Acting Surgeon General so he must be doing
something right with his diet to have lived so long. And come to think
of it, doesn't Mrs. Clause tell Santa that he has to put on more weight
in the Christmas classic "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer"? Who
is Santa going to listen to, his own wife, or some politically correct bureaucrat? |

Spitzer's Illegal Aliens Driver's License Plan
Spitzer and immigrant groups say the new policy will boost safety and save state motorists in insurance premiums because there will be fewer uninsured motorists. They claim the new policy also would generate an estimated $6 million in new license fees. Opponents claim the Department of Homeland Security is pushing all 50 states to tighten their identification standards and Spitzer's approach "is going just the opposite way" from the federal government. They call the plan a "clear and present danger" to the state's security.

If I Did It:
Confessions of the Killer Let’s pretend you are rich and an avid reader, maybe you are! Anyways what is your opinion on buying this notorious book?
In 1994, Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson were brutally murdered at her home in Brentwood, California. O.J. Simpson was tried for the crime in a case that captured the attention of the American people, but was ultimately found not guilty of criminal charges. The victims' families brought civil cases against Simpson, and he was found liable for willfully and wrongfully causing the deaths of Ron and Nicole by committing battery with malice and oppression. In 2006, Harper - Collins announced the publication of a book in which O.J. Simpson told how he hypothetically would have committed the murders. In response to public outrage that Simpson stood to profit from these crimes, Harper - Collins canceled the book. A Florida bankruptcy court awarded the rights to the Goldmans in August 2007 to partially satisfy the unpaid civil judgment, which has risen, with interest, to over $38 million. The Goldman family views this book as his confession, and has worked hard to ensure that the public will read this book and learn the truth. This is the original manuscript approved by O.J. Simpson, with up to 14,000 words of key additional commentary. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Ron Goldman Foundation for Justice. About the Author Fred and Kim Goldman are the father and sister of Ron Goldman, who was brutally murdered along with Nicole Brown Simpson in Brentwood, CA on June 12th, 1994. |

Are you a Conservative or a Liberal
Or a Moderate who leans ...
|
|
| CONSERVATIVES – believe in personal responsibility, limited government, free markets, individual liberty, traditional American values and a strong national defense. Believe the role of government should be to provide people the freedom necessary to pursue their own goals. Conservative policies generally emphasize empowerment of the individual to solve problems. |
| MODERATES - is an individual who holds the middle position between those generally classified as being left-wing or liberal and those seen as right-wing or conservative. An alternate definition, and one widely held among swing voters, is that a moderate is one who has firm convictions on many issues, yet some convictions fall just to the left of the spectrum and some fall just to the right. Political moderates usually seek conciliation between the views of various political parties, and often take positions partially derived from opposite views. |
| LIBERALS – believe in governmental action to achieve equal opportunity and equality for all, and that it is the duty of the State to alleviate social ills and to protect civil liberties and individual and human rights. Believe the role of the government should be to guarantee that no one is in need. Believe that people are basically good. Liberal policies generally emphasize the need for the government to solve people’s problems. |

Immigration Reform A bipartisan immigration reform bill backed by the administration is currently being debated in congress. There seems to be a large contingent from both the left and the right who are criticizing the bill. The left say the bill is too harsh on immigrants that deserve to be in this country while the right claim the bill is amnesty for people who have broken US Law. Immigration reform legislation was passed in 1986 and again in 1996 but the problems seem to still exist.

In recent years the Geneseo Wal-Mart closed their large store in Wegmans
Plaza and opened a Superstore across the street. Then the town residents
put a hold on any more Big Box stores in the area for the near future.
The Lima residents said "NO" when Wal-Mart came knocking on their door. Now the battle rages on in LeRoy where the Giant Retailer plans to build west of the village on Route 5.
