Odyssey of the Mind competition results York Central School hosted the Region 15 Odyssey of the Mind competition on March 21, 2009. After weeks of perfecting the solutions to the problems offered in this year’s competition, 15 teams placed and advanced to state competition held this year at Binghamton University on April 4. Regional competitions started at 9 a.m. and the hallways at York school were bustling with students, coaches, parents and all of the teams’ props, yet no confusion existed, as the teams respected each other and the day, while very busy, transpired without a hitch. Joelle Lyman, enrichment specialist for Genesee Valley Boces and coordinator of the regional competition, credits Anne Dougal and Rose Lubanski, Odyssey of the Mind coordinators at YCS for organizing the day’s events. The following teams moved on to state competition: Geneseo Central School
York Central School
Caledonia-Mumford Central School
Attica Central School
Advancing from state competition on April 4 and preparing for world competition held at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, May 27 – 30, are Geneseo’s Division III Superstition and York’s Division I, II and III Shockwaves.
