Old Fashioned Days

Springtime in the country draws hundreds to Old Fashioned Days

The Estes family hosted the 31st annual Old Fashioned Days on Sunday, April 29. Located on the picturesque rolling hills and fields of Honey Locust Farms on Cameron Road in Scottsville, it's a real family affair that offers children and adults a look into the past with horse-drawn wagons and teams of large work horses plowing the fields. At the top of the hill, children delighted at the sheep shearing demonstrations and the newborn lambs.

Old Fashioned Days featured plenty of free entertainment, as well. There were fiddlers, an outdoor flower and craft sale and the splendor of the countryside coming back to life under the spring sun.

We started Old Fashioned Days to bring the beauty of farming and free entertainment to families," said Bob Estes. His brother Ken and their adult children were all in town for the event. Honey Locus Farms is family owned and operated and home to about 45 Belgian draft horses. The day-long event is sponsored by the Western New York Draft Horse Club members. Horse farmers from as far away as Collins, NY brought their animals to Honey Locus Farm for the event.

It’s been a few years since the weather cooperated for Old Fashioned Days but Sunday’s bright sun and mild temperatures brought out hundreds of families, both young and old, to enjoy a day on the farm.
