Virginia Pease Panzarella
Virginia Pease (Connor) Panzarella of Fayetteville, N.Y.,
and formerly of Rochester, N.Y., passed away Tuesday May 9, 2006. Born in
Mumford, NY, Virginia was a graduate of Cornell University and received
her masters degree at the University of Rochester. She taught home
economics at Caledonia High School and Benjamin Franklin High School in
Rochester.
She served her country proudly in the U.S. Navy during WWII
attaining the rank of Lieutenant. She also worked for the American Red
Cross as a nutritionist. She was a 54-year member of the Irondequoit
Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon. She was also a member of the
AAUW and numerous Naval women’s veterans organizations.
She was predeceased by her two husbands, Charles G. Connor
and Santo Panzarella. She is survived by a daughter, Mairead Connor Conan
(Timothy), three granddaughters Margaret, Mary Kate and Maura Clare Conan,
a niece, Virginia P. Westacott (Robert) and sister-in-laws, Pamela J.
Pease and Jane McCluskey Zimmerman, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces
and grandnephews.
Services were held Saturday 8:45 am at the Burns-Garfield
Funeral Home. Committal services for burial will be at 12
noon at Mumford Rural Cemetery in Mumford, N.Y. Calling hours will be
Friday 5-7 pm at the Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 E. Genesee St.,
Syracuse, N.Y. Contributions may be made to Irondequoit Presbyterian
Church, 2881 Culver Rd., Rochester, N.Y. 14622.
