Stephen J. Clary

   Stephen J. Clary, age 74 years, of Caledonia died December 27, 2005 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home. Steve was the Caledonia Postmaster from 1966-1988. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a past commander of both the Caledonia Matthew Cleary Post 255 and the Caledonia VFW Post 10844. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and was a member of St. Columba Church, Caledonia Country Club, and worked part-time at Ace Hardware in Caledonia. Steve is survived by his wife of 49 years, June; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Major Leonard Verhaeg of Ft. Riley, KS; grandchildren, Kyle and Morgan Verhaeg; sisters, Annabelle Weber of Caledonia, Gretchen Kellogg of LeRoy; sister-in-law, Shirley Clary of Houghton; several nieces and nephews. His brothers, Leo, James, Morris and Martin Clary predecease Steve.

    Friends called Friday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 West Main Street, Caledonia. His Funeral Mass was held Saturday, 11:00 AM at St. Columba Church with interment following at St. Columba Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Focus on the Children, PO Box 31, Caledonia, NY 14423.
