Sadie E. Ashe, age 94 years, of Scottsville died September 16, 2001 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born April 16, 1907 in Washington D.C. to George and Lavania (Johnson) Hinds. Sadie was a homemaker and a member of the Second Baptist Church in Mumford. She is survived by her daughters; Elaine Thornton of Caledonia, Ruth Lucas of Scottsville, Rosemary Lucas of Caledonia, and Joyce Barnes of Scottsville; son, William (Gerri) Carpenter of FL; son-in-law, Walter Williams of LeRoy; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Carpenter of Caledonia; 18 grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren. Daughter, Catherine Williams, and sons; David and Donald Carpenter predecease her.

   Friends called Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Alhart Funeral Home. Her Funeral Service was held Thursday, 11:00 AM at the Second Baptist Church, George Street, Mumford. Interment was held at Mumford Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Genesee Valley Advanced Medical Unit, PO Box 3, Caledonia, NY 14423.
