Rita J. Hayward, age 78 years, of Mumford died September 28, 2007 at The Highlands at Brighton. She was born June 25, 1929 in Rochester, NY to Wallace and Mary Johnstone. An avid golfer, Rita was a long-time member of the Caledonia Country Club and enjoyed dancing and cooking. She is survived by her husband, Bernie; daughters, Christine Patanella, Janice Clements both of LeRoy, Gale (Tom Wood) Harrington of Mumford; grandchildren, Amy and Mark Harrington, Amanda and Matthew Klump; several nieces and nephews. Her son, Billy predeceases Mrs. Hayward.

   Friends called Sunday, September 30, 2007 from 4-7 PM at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 West Main Street, Caledonia. Her Memorial Service was held Monday, October 1, 2007 at the First United Presbyterian Church, George Street, Mumford, NY 14511. A private interment was held at Mumford Rural Cemetery.
