Richard D. Kingsbury
Lt. Col. US Air Force (Ret)

   Richard D. Kingsbury, age 87 years, of Bergen died March 27, 2009 at his home. Born to Dean and Elizabeth Kingsbury, Richard was born November 15, 1921 in Scottsville, NY. In February 1943 at the age of 21, He joined the Army Air Corps which later became the Air Force. He was in the 831st squadron of the 485th bomb group in the 15th Air Force stationed in Venosa, Italy. Richard flew 25 missions in B-24s safely without loss or harm of his crew during WWII. He retired from the reserves in 1969 as a Lieutenant Colonel. After the war ended, Richard worked for a company that contracted to investigate accidents for the consumer safety commission as an insurance investigator. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ethel; daughter, Lori Ochoa; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Judy Kingsbury; grandchildren, Meghan and Logan Ochoa, Katelyn and Kara Kingsbury; sister-in-law, Dorothy Kingsbury; several nieces and nephews. His son, Todd predeceases Richard.

   Friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 West Main Street, Caledonia. His interment with full military honors will be held at the Stone Church Cemetery, Bergen. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Honor Flight Rochester, PO Box 23581, Rochester, NY 14692.
