John R. Majors John R. Majors, 87, of Caledonia-Mumford died February 3, 1999 at Monroe Community Hospital where he has resided for the last three years. John was born April 10,1911 in Culpeper, Virginia, the son of Blackfoot and Maryjulia (Johnson) Majors. John is survived by wife of 37 years Lora; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Edna Majors, Albert and Karen Majors, Bruce and Beatrice Simms, Steven Simms; daughter Margaret Nelson; sister, Margaret Majors; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his first wife of 24 years, Eleanor (l959) and his son Taylor (1971). John retired from Doehler-Javis, a tool and dye company in Batavia, were he was a foreman. He was also a barber and a wonderful storyteller. John was an avid sports fan and especially liked baseball. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Eurcka Lodge 36, Rochester. As a member of the Second Baptist Church in Mumford John served as an usher and a member of Trustee Board. Friends called Friday 2-4, 7-9 at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main Street, Caledonia. Funeral Services was held Saturday February 6, 1999, 1:00 P.M. at the Second Baptist Church, Mumford. Private Interment at the Mumford Rural Cemetery.
