Gerald E. Stirling

   Gerald E. Stirling, 71 years of 100 Gale Avenue, Liverpool, formerly of York and Mumford, died September 30, 2000 after battling a long illness. He died at the home of his stepson and step daughter-in-law, Paul and Lisa Sandholzer. Gerald was born February 26, 1929 to Elmer W. and Marie L. (McCombs) Stirling. He graduated from York Central School in Greigsville, NY. Jerry served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1948-1952. When he was discharged from Mitchell Air Force Base, he had reached the rank of sergeant. On October 5, 1970, Jerry married Muriel M. (Sandy) St. Germain. They lived in Massena until her death, November 25, 1997. He had previously been married to Beverly Derrenbacker. Jerry was employed as a tool and die foreman at the Central Foundry in Massena until his retirement. He was an active member of the Amvets Gerald Roy Post No. 4 and Earl Santimaw VFW Post No. 1143, and Masonic Lodge Post No. 513 F&AM. He was affiliated with the Congregational United Church of Christ in Massena. He was a pilot, enjoyed boating, golf and baseball. He enjoyed people and life.

   Jerry is survived by his sons; Paul (Lisa) Sandholzer, Liverpool, Jeff Stirling, Warren, AZ and Kirk Stirling, New York City; sisters, Mrs. Paul (Dorothy) Catlin, Winthrop, Mrs. Richard (Barbara) Pursel of Caledonia, and Lillian Wagner of Brighton; four grandchildren, Lucas Paul Sandholzer, Liverpool, Matthew, Ethan, and Alexandra Stirling, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

   Funeral service was held Wednesday, October 4, 2000 at the Donaldson Funeral Home in Massena. Internment was held at the Calvary Cemetery in Massena. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Central New York, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088-6148.
