"Jake"

   J. Gordon "Jake" McKay, age 72 years, of Hemlock/Caledonia died April 1, 2003 at the Hospeace House, Naples after a brief illness. He was born April 15, 1930 in Batavia, NY to John and Loretta (Callan) McKay.  Jake was a graduate of Caledonia High School in 1950. He attended Florida Southern College. Jake served in the U.S. Air force from 1950-1953 as a Staff Sergeant. He was trained as a Tail gunner in B-29 airplanes. Jake worked in Saudi Arabia in the Oil Industry in the early 1980's, returning to Caledonia in the mid-1980's, he opened a bar called, Jake's Place. In 1988, he began working for the City of Rochester in Hemlock as a water quality control technician and retired in 2002. Jake is survived by his brothers, Pete (Paula) McKay of Indianapolis, Indiana, Loren "Luke" (Helga) McKay of Germany, Tom (Lucille) McKay of Clifton Springs, Don (Betty) McKay of Orlando, FL, David McKay of Seattle, WA, several nieces and nephews.

   Friends attended his graveside service at 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 19, 2003 at Mumford Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospeace House, P.O.
