Hugh H. Robertson

    Hugh H. Robertson, 84, of South Rd., Scottsville, died at home May 16, 1998 after a long illness. Born June 28, 1913, in Rochester, NY, the son of Hugh H. and Ora (Chamberlain) Robertson

    He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Eleanor Robertson, Scottsville. Daughters and sons-in-law: Bonnie and Roger Howlett, Hamlin, Jeanne and Andrew Earl, Caledonia, Elizabeth (EA) and Don Sears, Scottsville. Son and daughter-in-law; James and Cindy Robertson, Castlerock, CO. Seven grandchildren and 4 Great grandchildren.

    Mr. Robertson was a Percussionist for the Rochester Philharmonic. He also played percussion for Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Baltimore and Chautauqua Orchestras, and the Monroe County Packs Band, Shrine Band and Windjammers. He was the first person to graduate for Eastman School of Music with a degree in percussion and taught percussion and baton for many years.

    He was also a dairy farmer of pedigreed Jersey cattle, a member of the Eunice Lodge in Caledonia since 1953. He served on various committees including, Worshipful Master in 1967 and 1976. He was Assistant Grand Lecturer in Livingston County District 1970-72. He was District Deputy Grand Master 1981-82, and received the Distinguished Achievement Award in 1985. Hugh served as Patron of the Caledonia Chapter of the Order Of the Eastern Star in 1987. A Member of the Hamilton Chapter No. 62 R.A.M. He was High Priest in 1991 Monroe Commandery No. 12; Doric Council. Cryptic Mason No. 19; Genesee York Rite College No. 25. In the Scottish Rite, he was a member of the Chapter of Rose Croix, Council Princes of Jerusalem, Lodge of Perfection, Valley of Rochester Consistory and received the Scottish Rite Award for meritorious Service in 1993. He also received the Order of Purple Cross, and Distinguished Service Award.  Hugh was also a member of the Shrine.

    He has attended the First Presbyterian Church of Caledonia since 1947, serving as an elder, Sunday school teacher, choir member and director.

    A participant of the Caledonia Variety Show for over 27 years, he directed the chorus, adjudicated and of helped arrange many talent shows, and adjudicated many parades.

    Calling Hours will be Tuesday, May 19, 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Alhart Funeral Rome 3068 West Main Street, Caledonia. A Masonic Service will be held at 6:45 P.M., at the Funeral Home.

    The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, May 20, 1998, 2 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 3080 West Main Street, Caledonia. Reverend Nancy Reinert Officiating. Burial will be in Mumford Rural Cemetery, Mumford, NY
