Herbert J. Skivington Herbert J. Skivington, 89, of Main Street, Fort Plain, NY died Saturday at Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility after a long illness. He was born on April 9, 1910 in Caledonia, NY, the son of Thomas and Augusta McSweeny Skivington. Mr. Skivington was a graduate of Caledonia High School and the Rochester Business Institute, Mr. Skivington moved from the Rochester area to Fort Plain in 1985. His wife, Dorothy Maloney Skivington, whom he married on August 10, 1940, died on May 28, 1988. Survivors include a son, Kevin M. Skivington of Fort Plain, NY, a grandson, Mark Skivington of Gloversville, NY, and two granddaughters, Beth Skivington of Geneseo, NY and Mary Skivington of Fort Plain, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was owner and operator of H.J. Skivington Real Estate in Victor, NY, retiring in 1985. During World War II, Mr. Skivington served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Skivington was a member of the Liederkranz Club of Rochester as well as the American Legion. Mr. Skivington was also a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Ft. Plain. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to The Fulmont Development Facility, 74 Main Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
