Henry D. Dempsey Henry D. "Hank" Dempsey, age 78 years, of Mumford entered into eternal life at home surrounded by his family on May 27, 2003. He was born March 27, 1925 in Geneseo, NY to William and Margaret (Steele) Dempsey. Hank retired from the Town of Wheatland as an equipment operator for the Highway Department. He was a long-time member and past president of the Mumford Fire Department. He was currently serving as the Fire Commissioner for the Mumford Fire Department. Hank enjoyed farming, woodworking, tractor refinishing and his family. He is survived by his loving daughters, Linda Sue Booth of Caledonia, Molly (David) Coyle of Mumford; four grandchildren, Megan (Mike) Churchill, Melissa Hallett (Gerrit Knickerbocker), Amanda (Jeff) Yaw, David (Megan) Coyle, four great-grandchildren, Emmalee and Morgan Hallett, Jeffrey and Tessa Yaw; sister, Dorothy David of Bluehill, ME; many nieces and nephews. His wife, Barbara predeceases him. Hank will be greatly missed by his family and many dear friends. Friends called Friday, May 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 West Main Street, Caledonia where his Funeral Service was held on Saturday at 12:00 (Noon).
