Geraldine M. Zimmer　

    Geraldine Zimmer, a lifelong member of the Caledonia community, died at home at age 75 on October 10, 2009. Daughter of Marion and Gerald (Rex) FitzGibbon, Gerry was born October 21, 1933 in Caledonia and graduated from Caledonia-Mumford school and went on to earn her B.S. in Nursing from Nazareth College. She was a former nursing instructor at Highland Hospital’s School of Nursing for 18 years until it closed in 1979. She continued caring for people at the Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility before her retirement. A lifelong devoted fan of Cal-Mum sports, she spent almost 30 years on the sidelines cheering on her kids. She loved music, history (especially World War II), and was an avid reader and lover of word and logic problems. Along with her husband, Ken, she was the hostess of hundreds of impromptu get togethers as well as the annual Thanksgiving extravaganza for the Fitzgibbons clan.

    Her husband, Kenneth L. Zimmer and sister, June Futter predeceases Gerry. Beloved mother of Bob, Mark (Susan), Kevin (Cindy), Karl, Karen Zimmer; grandchildren David, Kristen, Kyle, Kory and Nicole; sister Peggy (Jim) Nailos; brother Tom FitzGibbon, brother-in-law Dick Futter; aunt Helen Henry; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gerry will be missed by many friends as well.

    Friends called Tuesday, October 13, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 West Main Street, Caledonia, NY. Her Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 10:00 AM at St. Columba Church, Caledonia. Interment was held at Mumford Rural Cemetery.
