Gerald J. Eckhard

   Gerald J. Eckhard, age 67 years, of Upper Turnpike Road in Whitehall NY, passed away at his home on August 13, 2003. Born on April 16, 1936 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of Joseph and Vera (Towne) Eckhard. A graduate of Caledonia-Mumford Central School Class of 1955 and Fredonia State Teacher's College, he taught instrumental music for 33 years at the Whitehall Central School. He was a charter member of the Whitehall Jaycees and a member of the Washington County Music Teacher's Association.

   He is survived by his wife, Muriel (Nichols) Eckhard of Whitehall; his children, Scott Eckhard and his wife, Corrine of North Granville and Cynthia Barcomb and her husband, Albert of Schenectady; loving grandchildren, Justine and Jenna Eckhard, and Kayla and Kelsey Barcomb; one sister, Judy Krahmer and her husband, Max; and three nephews, of Clearwater, Fla.

   Family and friends called at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams Street in Whitehall on August 16 where a memorial service followed with Rev. Roberta Proper, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Whitehall, officiating. Memorials may be made in his name to the Organ Fund, c/o First Presbyterian Church, Whitehall NY 12887.
