George J. Nelson Jr., age 82 years, of Caledonia entered into rest June 3, 2006 at Westgate Nursing Home. He was born September 29, 1923 in Reva, Virginia to George and Dorothy Nelson Sr. He was the eldest of five boys. As a baby, George Sr. and Dorothy were told by doctors that George Jr. wouldn’t live past 10 years; he beat those odds by 72 yrs. He graduated from Caledonia High School in 1944 and worked for nearly 30 years until his retirement from Chloride Electro Networks in Caledonia. He was an avid sports fan. He especially liked football, and was honorary captain and scorekeeper for the company bowling team. He is survived by his brothers, Walter (Ruby) Nelson of Avon, Howard (Virginia) Nelson Sr. of Scottsville, sister-in-law, Marie Nelson of Geneseo; and several nieces and nephews. George is predeceased by his brothers, Calvin and Melvin Nelson.

   Friends called Tuesday, June 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 West Main Street, Caledonia where his Funeral Service was held Wednesday, June 7 at 1:30 P.M. Interment was held at Mumford Rural Cemetery.
