Elaine Thornton

   Elaine Thornton, age 79 years, of Caledonia departed this life June 17, 2003 at Highland Hospital in Rochester. She was born October 3, 1923 in Avon , NY to David and Sadie (Johnson) Carpenter. Elaine was a dedicated Christian, Mother of the First Church of God in Caledonia and a business woman of that community. She took care of 95 foster children. Her husband, Pastor William Thornton preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her passing, devoted daughter, Patricia Brooks; a loving son, Jerome Thornton both of Caledonia; 3 sisters, Ruth Lucas of Rochester, Rosemary Lucas of Caledonia and Joyce Barnes of Scottsville; 1 brother, William Carpenter of Ladylake, FL; 95 foster children; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

   Friends called Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main Street, Caledonia. Her Funeral Service was held Friday, 11 AM at the First Church of God, 3059 W. Main Street, Caledonia. Interment at Mumford Rural Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.
