David E. Coots David E. Coots, 89, of Linwood Road, LeRoy died Tuesday, July 25, 2000 at his home after a lengthy illness. Mr. Coots was born December 17, 1910, in Brooklyn, a son of the late Ervin and Mabel (Ross) Coots. He was a graduate of Caledonia High School, Buffalo State Teachers College and did graduate work at Oswego State Teachers College. He was employed for more than 20 years as an industrial arts and driver education teacher at Caledonia-Mumford Central School, retiring in 1972. He enjoyed farming and was an accomplished, carpenter and furniture maker. He was also active for many years in breeding Shetland, Welsh and Hackney ponies and was a member of the New York State Hackney Pony Association and Covington United Presbyterian Church. His wife, Helen Coots, died in 1996. Surviving are two daughters, Karen (Robert) Milligan of Pavilion and Carla (Eduardo) Rodriguez of LeRoy, a son, Colin (Elizabeth Gajary) Coots of LeRoy; three sisters, Edith Clark of Florida, Eleanor Chase of North Carolina and Iilene Carson of Texas; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends called from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Alhart Funeral Home. A memorial service was held Friday at the Covington United Presbyterian Church, with burial in Mumford Rural Cemetery.
