Arthur F. Vokes

   Arthur F. Vokes, age 78 years, of Caledonia died at home on March 5, 2006 after an 8-year long battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS). He was born September 3, 1927 in Caledonia to Roland and Florence Vokes.  Mr. Vokes retired after 37 years of service from Chloride Electro Networks in 1991, as the supervisor of the finishing department. He served in the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Matthew Cleary Post 255 in Caledonia. He enjoyed his grandchildren, bowling, playing cards, and watching horse racing. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Rita Ackerman Vokes of Caledonia; sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Colleen Vokes, David and Margie Vokes both of Caledonia; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jim Goodburlet of California; grandchildren, Katie and Jordan Vokes, Mark and Courtney Goodburlet.

   Friends called Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 West Main Street, Caledonia. His Funeral Service took place Wednesday, 11:00 AM at St. Andrews’s Episcopal Church, 175 North Street, Caledonia, NY 14423. Interment at St. Columba Cemetery, Caledonia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church or Livingston County Hospice, 2 County Campus, Mt. Morris, NY 14510.
