Thanks!

The Mumford Neighborhood Association would like to thank the Mumford businesses and residents who helped us make our "Welcome to the Hamlet of Mumford" sign possible. Lisa Weis, Maryann McGinnis and Ford Best and other members of the Association have put many hours into this project and are proud to have an opportunity to deliver such a wonderful enhancement to our community.

The Association rekindled itself in January of 2004. They look forward to building spirit within the community. Mumford is the forgotten southwest edge of Monroe county, Town of Wheatland. They enjoy bringing visitors into their community with the Mumford Home Tour. This allows other to enjoy their historic and beautiful community. The Association survives on donations and fundraisers. Donations can be sent to Mumford Neighborhood Association, PO BOX 221, Mumford, NY 14511.

Thank you again to the community for supporting the Mumford Neighborhood Association. They hope to build a strong future and are already working on another project. They appreciate the support of the Hamlet.

Neighborhood Association Unveils Sign: Schedule Events

The Mumford Neighborhood Association is now in its third year. The Association appreciates being supported by the Town of Wheatland and Wheatland TB member Tammy Spear attending to share updates from the Town to the members.

Our greatest achievement so far is has been unveiled – the Welcome to the Hamlet of Mumford sign. It was placed at the corner Routes 36 & 383. We are very excited. It has been a long time coming and a lot of hard work went into it.

The dates for the street sales will be July 15 & 16. We want to get the support of the hamlet for this sale. Start getting your sellables ready and put them out in your yard to sell! Past sales have been very successful. This date is the GC Museum Civil War Reenactment so our streets will be lined with traffic. Be ready!

Next October we will bring back the Scarecrow Contest in the hamlet. Show us your best. Details will follow along with sign up. Your participation shows the spirit of the hamlet.

We’ll host our big event of the year in October – the home tour. We are looking for homeowners willing to show off their homes. If you are interested please call Lisa at 538-6788. We like to show off our historical and beautiful hamlet. Our visitors leave our home tour wanting to make reservations for next year.

We are applying for membership in the Wheatland Chamber of Commerce to assist with becoming a bigger part in the Town of Wheatland.

Plans for upcoming project: The Mumford Neighborhood Association would like to purchase holiday decorations for the four corners in Mumford. Most villages and towns surrounding the hamlet are decorated. Our goal is to beautify as other areas have done around us.

Other tidbits: We are always trying to recruit new members. A resident of the hamlet makes you eligible. There are no membership fees. We are looking for new and exciting ideas, projects, etc. Any suggestions made from anyone are discussed within the group. We are open to fundraising suggestions and hamlet projects. Come and help us make decisions on what we will get involved in next!
