CFD BINGO is a great pastime!

Lately, people are trying to find all kinds of hobbies and activities to take part in that don’t cost a lot of money. The Caledonia Firemen invite everyone to try bingo on Tuesday nights at J.W. Jones Hall. It’s fun, it’s easy, and it doesn’t cost a lot of money to play.

The Caledonia Fire Department has been running bingo at J.W. Jones Hall on Tuesday nights for 26 years. They say, now, more than ever, people should try an evening of fun that’s close to home. You might be a big winner!

J.W. Jones Hall opens at 6:30 p.m. on bingo night so players can enjoy a delicious and inexpensive supper prepared by the Ladies Auxiliary. You can eat for under $5, now that’s a deal. Coffee is free all evening for players. Games begin at 7:30 and continue until 10 p.m. You can play all evening for $10 with additional split pots for $1 a piece and a progressive game where you could win $1,000.

Fireman and bingo night volunteer Jim Murphy says they average about 120 players each week. He says bingo is an important fundraiser for the fire department, especially since the carnival was discontinued. The fire department would like to see more local people take advantage of the games and reminds folks in the community that bingo is not just for the firemen, it’s for everyone! Murphy says bingo night couldn’t run without the faithful volunteers who work at it each week, including Donna MacWilliams, Anne DeMarco and members of the Ladies Auxiliary that cook the supper each week, Bob McCombs, Dennis Chapman, Jack Southcombe, Jack Sims, Don Mosele, Stan MacWilliams, Ivan and Diane Carson and others that work at bingo.

So the next time you’re wondering what you can do to get out of the house for an evening, try bingo at J.W. Jones Hall. You’ll have a lot of fun and maybe even go home with a little prize money.
