Crowd delights at return of Caledonia Firemen’s parade

Just like they did in years past, eager parade spectators took their lawn chairs to the side of State and Main Streets in anticipation of the Caledonia Firemen’s parade on June 26. At 7 p.m., the fire whistle rang out, signaling the parade’s start.

Led by Caledonia Fire Department, the parade made its way down the street, greeted by an enthused crowd. The firemen’s parade was back after an eight year hiatus. Robert "Bear" Pullyblank returned as the parade announcer and to his surprise, as Caledonia firemen approached the judges’ stand, they paused and dedicated the 2009 parade to Pullyblank. Lieutenant Ron Beach III, organizer of the return of the parade and field day weekend, presented a dedication plaque to Pullyblank and thanked him for his years of dedication to the parade.

Organizers say the parade and field days was successful.
