50 Year Reunion

The Caledonia High School Class of 1948 held their 50th reunion on August 8 at the Caledonia Country Club. Forty students graduated that year, nine of whom are deceased. Other than a few classmates who couldn’t attend, the class was well represented at the reunion.

The reception was hosted by classmate Richard "Stinky" Campbell and his wife, and organized by committee members Bea Henry, Mary Jane Liebeck, Jack O’Donnell, Barb Marble and Murry Cohen.

As is typical at class reunions, some members of the class didn’t recognize their fellow classmates at first glance. But with a little help from name tags bearing senior class photos, everyone eventually put the name with the face and enjoyed reminiscing the past five decades.

"Stinky" Campbell seemed to have changed the most over the past 50 years, and many of his classmates remarked that they wouldn’t have recognized him at all without his name tag.

Following dinner, "Stinky" delivered a lighthearted roast of his classmates, and fondly recalled their teachers, principal and coaches. He then called on his friend, Murry Cohen, and delivered the shocking revelation that he was NOT the real "Stinky" Campbell! Mr. Campbell was unable to be with his class for the reunion but hired a stand up comedian to play himself. Surprisingly, many of the classmates were fooled!

Richard Campbell is president of Multistock Corp. His company recently installed the air conditioning system in Microsoft owner, Bill Gates’ $50 million mansion. Mr. Campbell was on business in England at the time of the reunion, but certainly went to great pains to see to it that his fellow classmates had a wonderful celebration at the reunion of the Caledonia High School Class of 1948.

At the next reunion of the class, you can be sure there’ll be many classmates asking, "Will the real Richard "Stinky" Campbell please stand up?"
