| Todd Smith and Jenny Baird were married on
September 17, 2005 in a beautiful Celtic Garden Wedding. The
wedding and reception were held in Mumford, NY at the home of
the groom’s grandparents, Bob and Anne Smith.
The wedding ceremony was based on several Irish traditions.
Jenny carried a horseshoe in her bridal bouquet that was the
last horseshoe her grandfather, William Baird, made in Ireland.
The ring bearers wore kilts made from the Baird tartan. The
wedding colors were cornflower blue and celadon green. The
traditional color for weddings in Ireland is blue, which
symbolized purity. Jesse Gonzales provided a few words about
Gary Baird Sr., in a "Blessing of the Spirits", in
which the speaker shares a few memories of the recently
departed, including how happy they would be on the bride and
groom’s wedding day. An Irish superstition is that a man be
the first to offer best wishes and congratulations to the bride
and offer the first kiss. Jenny’s grandfather, Carl Worden
Sr., was the first to congratulate the bride at the altar after
they were pronounced husband and wife. It is also tradition that
the groom’s mother be the first to greet the bride after the
ceremony has ended. Todd’s mother, Linda Smith was there to
greet Jenny as the new couple recessed down the aisle.
Todd is the son of Barry and Linda Smith of Mumford. Jenny is
the daughter Mrs. Peggy Gonzales (Jesse Gonzales) of Caledonia,
and the late Gary Baird Sr.
Todd is a career firefighter with the North Greece Fire
District and Jenny is a Registered Nurse at Strong Memorial
Hospital. They reside at their home in Mumford, NY.
