Another Important
Year for the website
2009
This website is run by
community volunteers under the New York State not-for-profit
guidelines. Sponsors pay $100 annually to keep the site
operating. During the "First 10 Days of May" we
solicit our visitors to donate to our annual fundraising
campaign. Our goal from the beginning in March of 1998 was to
obtain and maintain roughly 40 sponsors. This would keep us well
under our $5000 not-for-profit cap, which eliminates a ton of
paperwork every year. We have never had that problem over the
last ten years: our best year was $2700. It takes 12 sponsors
just to exist on the web and another couple for office supplies and the PO
Box. The webmaster gets funding twice a year for computer
hardware and software upgrades. With our current number of
sponsors and donors, this pretty much drains our resources by
the end of the fiscal year.
Every year in the past we
seem to gain a couple and lose a couple sponsors. This year we are going to put a larger emphasis on gaining more
sponsors. Our goal is to spend some funding on computer hardware
and software upgrades for our lead writers. This does not seem
to be too much to ask!
So if you have
contemplated donating before, this would be the perfect year
while we try to build our sponsor base. Also please encourage
area businesses to become sponsors of this popular website. We
not only serve our local area, but those in uniform around the
world, college students, snowbirds and many who relocated but
still hold Caledonia-Mumford dear to their hearts. This is the
Caledonia-Mumford community website and we need the community to
support us. Thank You.
