6th Grade Boys Basketball champs at
CYP Winter Classic

   Cal-Mum 6th Grade Boys Basketball team wins the "N" bracket championship at the CYP Winter Classic Basketball tournament. Cal-Mum finished 4-0 for the tournament claiming their first championship of the season.

   Cal-Mum traveled to Pittsford Middle School on Saturday February 28th for their first game against Brockport and won 51-27. Cal-Mum was led by Will VanAuken with 17 points, Kyle Preston added 13 points, Jacob McEwen finished with 11 points, Josh Neff added 6 points, Ryan Boulter chipped in 4 points and Brooks Becshler rounded out the scoring with 2 points. Nick Kline and Alex Polo did an outstanding job on defense.

   In Cal-Mum second game of the day they faced a very tough team from HFL. The game was tight throughout, but Cal-Mum came out on top 35-31. Will VanAuken led the scoring with 20 points, Jacob McEwen and Kyle Preston each added 4 points, Wyatt Phillips chipped in 3 points, Alex Polo and Ryan Boulter each added 2 points.

   On Sunday March 1st Cal-Mum traveled to the field house at Gates-Chili High School to face Livonia. The game was back and forth throughout with Nick Kline making a lay-up with 12 seconds left to put the game away. The final score was Cal-Mum 43 Livonia 41. Josh Neff scored 10 points, Nick Kline finished with 6 points, Will VanAuken added 15 points, Kyle Preston added 8 points, and Wyatt Phillips scored 4 points.

   In the final game of the tourney Cal-Mum faced off against Webster and came out on top 67-39. Nick Kline and Wyatt Phillips each scored their season high in points 10 and 6 each. Will VanAuken finished with 18 points, Josh Neff added 12 points, Kyle Preston chipped in 7 points, Jacob McEwen added 6 points, Marty Callan added 4 points, and Brooks Becshler and Ryan Boulter each added 2 points. James Watt played did an outstanding job on defense.

   Cal-Mum is 10-2 on the season and will finish out the season with two more tournaments over the next two weekends.
