5th Grade Boys Basketball in
The Cal-Mum 5th Grade boys travel basketball team participated in the St. John’s Fisher Thanksgiving Classic over the weekend of November 21-23. The Red Raiders played four games over the weekend and ended up with a record of 3-1. In the first game, Cal-Mum was matched up with the host team CYP Panthers. Cal-Mum started strong and led at the half 19-6 and went on to win the game 37-22. Kurtis Haut led Cal-Mum with 15 points and Will Van Auken chipped in 10 points. Marty Callan finished with 6 points, Josh Neff added 3, and Ryan Bulter scored 1 point. Nick Kline and Alex Polo played strong defense in the win. In the second game, Cal-Mum played the Penfield Select team and lost a close game 32-25. The Red Raiders were led by Kurtis Haut with 15 points and Zach Polo added 4 points. Will Van Auken, Marty Callan, and Alex Polo all chipped in 2 points. In the third game the Red Raiders took on the East Rochester Bombers. Cal-Mum started out slow and trailed at half time 10-7. The Red Raiders came out in the third quarter and outscored ER 18-6 and went on to win 32-20. Will Van Auken led Cal-Mum with 14 points and 11 rebounds, Kyle Preston chipped in 6 points along with 4 assists. Rounding out the scoring was Marty Callan and Jacob McEwen with 3 points each, Josh Neff, Ryan Bulter, Alex Polo all added 2 points each. Nick Kline also played well in the win with 2 steals. In the final game of the Thanksgiving Classic Cal-Mum faced Midlakes. The Red Raiders jumped out fast and led at the half 15-8 and they went on to win 31-12. Marty Callan scored 6 points, Kyle Preston added 5 points along with 3 assists, Jacob McEwen scored 2 points along with 5 steals, Nick Kline added 2 points, Josh Neff added 4 rebounds, Alex Polo added 2 rebounds, and Will Van Auken added 16 points and 15 rebounds. James Watts played outstanding defense in the win.
